The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up and he [Samuel] let none of his [the LORD’s] words fall to the ground. (1 Samuel 3:19)
Sometimes the Bible blows me away with just the literary nature of its words. I love this picture of the life that Samuel led. He let none of the LORD’s words fall to the ground. When I think about my own life I feel like it would be more accurate to say “every now and again he goes out and catches a few words of the LORD and then goes back inside to read what other people have to say about those words.”
Anyway, nothing much more to say, just a pretty cool verse tucked away after the story of Samuel’s call by God. This would make a cool game. You could make either a bunch of balloons with scripture on it, or a confetti cannon would be even better, but a whole lot messier.
You are so insightful Shane! That’s why I love reading your notes – I love the game idea. Our youth pastor moved, and I am filling in on our mission trip coordinating until we hire someone. We are having a meeting on Sunday – and I think I’ll do the balloon thing as an ice breaker.
I too feel like I can hang on to just a couple words at a time – although I’m getting better at reading and understanding and hanging on to His words through Disciple class.
