A couple days of creativity and retreat

I am in Nashville with Lifeway again this week. (I have a small writing assignment and so we have a workshop for a few days.) This is the 4th time I have been a part of something like this and I have to say that the writer’s workshop that we do is just as valuable to me as the paycheck, maybe even more valuable.

The thought of having 3 days to spend with other creative people coming up with ideas together really is thrilling for me, and the thought of having a couple of nights alone time to work and just sort of take a deep breath from the craziness of my life has me almost giddy.

My new idea of pastors is that they should get a 3 day sabbatical every 6 months. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just 3 days and 2 nights away from the church to refocus on God and remember that this job is more than just a job.

Actually I would love a 6-9 month sabbatical if anyone is interesting in paying me during that time, but I doubt there are many takers for that.

  1. I am sure my pastor/minister would agree with you on that one!

This was actually a different type of writing retreat. I am going write for Lifeway’s KNOWN curriculum. This was a brainstorming session for that.
