A Good Line

I was digging through an old box and found this little scrap of a poem. The whole thing doesn’t really work for me, but the last line just won’t get out of my head.

Her choice is gone
    passed on to younger people
She sits in front of an old cabinet TV
as 19 year olds and 22 year olds tell her when
    to go to bed
    and when to get up
    or take a pill
    or when to eat
And even what to eat
    what to wear
    what to feel
They make her happy by telling her not to be sad.
