Minecraft Bible Study on John 15:5

Minecraft Bible Study on John 15:5

I am working on a new series of Minecraft Bible study videos with my son as Minecraft expert. We are making them at the pace of about one a week so be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel if you want to get all of them when they come out.

Here is the working script I used. We didn’t follow this exactly, but you can get the basic idea. Nathan ended up making a mine cart track that would shoot fireworks as long as it was connected to a big redstone cross. It was pretty cool. (then of course since he is 11 he wanted to make it shoot fireballs at the village, and well…that was actually pretty cool too)

Hey guys! Welcome back to another Minecraft Bible Study. I’m your host Bro. Shane and I’m joined as always by my son/co-host/minecraft guru Nathan. Say hey, Nathan.

So this week we are going to be building a contraption that uses Redstone to work.

Before we get too much further you need to go and find your Bible and turn to John 15:5

There will be a link in the description if you don’t have a Bible.

OK, every time we make these redstone things I am fascinated, because for me Minecraft is always about survival mode which is the way I like to play the best and in survival you don’t find a whole lot of red stone, so I don’t build with it much.

But Nathan Is my go to guru to show me how this stuff works.

So what does this have to do with the Bible? Well, if you will open your Bible to John 15 we will take a look at some of the teachings of Jesus.

John 15:5

5 “I am the vine;  you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit,  because you can do nothing without Me

Jesus says that he is the vine and we are the branches and then he says that we must remind in Jesus if we are to bear fruit.

So if you break the connection to the redstone the machine no longer works. The same is true for us. If we break our connection with Jesus we will no  longer produce good things.

So how do we remain in Jesus?

We spend time reading the Bible, it is important for us to spend some time every day reading God’s word.

The second thing is we need to spend time talking to God. Nathan what do we call talking to God?

Yeah, we should spend time praying.

We spend time hanging out with other people who love Jesus

It is important that we spend time with other people who love Jesus because that helps us to learn to love Jesus more.

So just like the redstone lines are important if you want the machine to run it is important that we remain connected to Jesus through prayer, reading our bible and going to church if we are going to productive in the role that God has for us.

Thanks so much for watching, be sure to tell your friends about us, share us on facebook and whenever else you go and like and subscribe so that other people can find us.

Minecraft Bible Study: Workmanship of God

Minecraft Bible Study: Workmanship of God

My son and I are back again with the next installment of the Minecraft Bible Study. This week we move onto the PC version of Minecraft so that Nathan can teach us how to do a build battle while we I teach from Ephesians 2:10. We are God’s workmanship, and even when people try to judge us we can know that we are God’s works of art.

Minecraft Bible Study Devotion 2: What you need to survive

Minecraft Bible Study Devotion 2: What you need to survive

OK, Nate the Minecraft Guru joined me again for another Minecraft Bible Study. This one is focused on the Roman road and how important it is to choose Jesus. Just like you won’t survive your first night in Minecraft without some weapons or at least shelter you can’t survive without Jesus. Check out the video below and be sure to subscribe to get the upcoming videos in the series!

A Note about the Journey:

I know that some of you have been asking for this complete series for a long time. It still isn’t all that I want it to be. There is a video I would like to add for week 5 and several screen game type things I would like to include in the download, but I finally realized that if I waited until everything was perfect I would never get anything done. I do plan to re-record the audio on the videos that use my voice (the adult voice) and work on the rest of the things on the list. If you purchase this package I will send you the updates when the become available.

With all of that said, this is a complete 5 week Bible study for children with a Minecraft theme. It should be fairly straight forward and I pray that God will use it to help your students connect with God.

If you want to see some of the journey it took to get here as well as some of the other ideas that have been posted check out the links below.
