Our church is having a Ministry Expo on Sunday. It is one of those events that had several different views at the start, and so is now sort of an amalgamation of all of them. Basically we are going to set up booths for every church ministry in our fellowship hall and people are going to walk around and see what we do and in some cases how they can be involved.
This is the sort of thing that I am excited that we are having, but wasn’t super excited about actually doing because of the work. But it has been cool to see our ministry leaders really step up and get their booths ready. I hope this thing is well attended. I think some people will be surprised at all of the things that go on here.
Of course in a church our size when you have 30 booths you have about a third of your people manning booths and fewer people walking around. But I guess there are a few people like me who have more than one booth so maybe people will still get to see what is going on.
The past 2 days I have spent getting my flyers ready. I don’t know if I am going to get a whole display up and running or not. If I do I will take pictures.
This week we are kicking off a study on dating. I worked up this little card as a letter and as a student handout. Very rarely does the picture in my head actually come out on the screen, but this one is very close. (The little people are from istock and the doodles are from a Go Media Vector pack)
I asked someone to stay and help chaperone with us last night for a late night movie event. The event was both watching a movie and making movies. The chaperones only requirement was that we make the movie below for her. She thought it would be cool to make a movie about how she feels when her kids act stupid. (and yes that is her son in the video)
Our next youth lesson is a series on the family. We are going to talk about why God created the family, what he intended your family to be, how to deal with problems in your family, and how to make your family a better place though your actions. The theme is a fictional 80s family sitcom in the vein of Growing Pains, Cosby Show, Family Ties, and the like. The logo is below. We are kicking everything off with an 80s night extravaganza this week. I figured since all of the fashions were heading back that way anyway I could tight roll my jeans and have a little fun.
