Come Alive: A Greatest Showman Bible Study for Youth

Come Alive: A Greatest Showman Bible Study for Youth

John 10:10 says: “A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.”

This abundant life isn’t just eternal life, it is abundant life now! Jesus is inviting us to Come Alive!

So I though I would use that verse as the jumping off point of a new Bible study series based on the songs from The Greatest Showman. The cool thing about The Greatest Showman is that the movie is covered by CVLI so you can probably show clips of it using the license you already have at your church. Below you will find an overview of the study, and check back in a couple of weeks for how you can purchase the whole thing.

Week 1: Jesus Invites us to Come Alive (Song: “Come Alive”, and quotes from “To the Other Side”)

Week 2: We come alive when we seek God more than stuff (Song: “Never Enough”)

Week 3: We Come alive when we are willing to stop hiding our scars (Song: “This is Me”)

Week 4: Jesus offers us a way home when we mess up (Song: “From Now On”)

I know many people have been asking for the outline of Friendship Faithcraft. I have been meaning to make it one of my complete series for a while now, but I can’t seem to find the time. So in the interim here are my notes and a few files that should help you get started. It isn’t the pick up and go option that I would like, but it may help some of you in your plans this summer. If you have any questions let me know.

Please see the link above to purchase Faithcraft. I will get these links working again after I fix our virus issues.

Gross, Weird, True is a 4-week youth group Bible study that looks at some of the strange stories and commands in the Bible. It includes instructions on how to incorporate the 60-second games from NBC’s “Minute to Win It.” Included in this download is the complete leader guide; small groups discussion questions for each session; a screen quiz about strange things in the Bible; series art; promotional material; student handouts; a 60-second countdown timer; the original Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign files; and pretty much anything I could think of having to do with this study.

Session 1: Remove the Poop
Deuteronomy 23:12-4; 1 Peter 1:13-16
A look at one of the stranger rules of God from the old testament examining what it teaches us about God’s holiness.

Session 2: Death by Dishonor
Genesis 9:18-29; 2 Kings 2:23-24; Deuteronomy 21:18-20
Starting with the story of Noah naked in his tent and continuing through Elisha cursing youths with a bear to God’s promise in the 10 commandments this lesson takes a look at honoring your parents.

Session 3: Strong Man’s Weakness
Judges 13-16
A look at some of the stranger events that took place in the life of Samson. This lesson is small group based with students answering questions and reporting back to the group. The overall focus of the lesson is to be controlled by God instead of by our emotions.

Session 4: The Prophet/Prostitute Wedding
Hosea 1-3
Is there anything stranger than God commanding Hosea to go and get an adulterous wife? This session wraps up our weird study with a reminder that God wants us to be holy and that he will go to great lengths to help us to become like Him.

Gross Weird True is almost here

I have been thinking about posting my “Gross, Weird, True” Bible study for over 6 months now. I have been working on it for several weeks too, and it is finally finished. But I am at the office and a file that I need is on my hard drive at home so it will not get posted until this evening.

With that said, I couldn’t wait any longer to post about it. So consider this like a press release of a product that is coming soon, and check back tonight for all of the files and such. So without any more rambling…

I would like to introduce the first complete series: Gross, Weird, True. GWT is a 4 session lesson series that takes a look at some of the strange stories in the Bible to see what we can learn. The overall message of the series is for us to live holy lives. It explores how important holiness is to God, some ways that we fail to live holy, and God’s desire for us to return to Him.

What is included in the package:

  • The 4-week leaders guide
  • Small Group questions for each lesson
  • A framework for creating a series long game between the small groups using the games from the NBC show “Minute to Win It”.
  • Series art in psd, pdf, and png formats
  • Verse background for use in PowerPoint
  • 60 second video timer for the games
  • PDFs of handouts and small group questions
  • InDesign files used to put the lessons together
  • Pretty much every file I could think to add to the series.
