We are in the middle of a big citywide mission project for our church. We had a worship service tonight with another one tomorrow night. Tomorrow during the day we are breaking into 4 different mission teams (Backyard bible club, cleaning, construction, and a project for young kids). I have been doing lots of stuff to get ready, and my brain seems a bit fried tonight, but I wanted to post for just a second. It is cool to see people getting excited about serving. Makes me wonder why we don't do stuff like this more often. But right now I am too tired to think and complete this thought so I am heading to bed.

Here is a way to incorporate art into your next local missions project. Here is How it Works Find a local artist or someone who can teach some basic principles of painting or drawing. Bring students together to learn from the teacher and to create a few original pieces of art. Choose a theme like the love of Jesus or what heaven will be like. Once students have completed their pictures pile them into a van or two and take them to a local nursing home or retirement community. Let students give their pictures away to the residents. Be sure that students also spend time explaining their pictures and talking to the residents.

  My volunteer technical director (and co-host of God Geeks) is heading off to college. This past week was his last Wednesday night so in honor of him we did an all Geek youth lesson that I lovingly called a Geekstravaganza. It was the first lesson that I wrote fresh in a long time. I have been doing things from Lifeway and then stuff from our Dating 101 since December so it felt nice to get back into the writing again, even if it was themes that we have covered many times before.
