A Good Night

Meeting Report
Tonight was a fun night at church. They really responded to my "bring a friend" campaign and there were nine new people at church. A few of them had come before and were just coming back, but nine new people into a group that has been hovering around fifteen is a pretty fun night. I finished up the Gross, Weird, True Bible study and liked it so much I want to put it on Nailscars.com, but let's be honest when has that happened before?

Be My Escape

Object Lessons
I don't normally post my weekly lessons here, but this one is sort of current so I thought I would put it up here for you. This is just the basic outline if you want the student files I can send them to you in Microsoft Publisher if you drop me an email. You can check out the complete text after the link. This lesson is about Relient K's song "Be My Escape" which is actually getting radio and MTV time right now so it is a good one to grab the attention of your students. Basic Doctrine

Bible Stuff, Meeting Report, Youth Ministry Ideas
This week we kicked off a study of basic doctrine. It is something that I think is important, but ultimately can be very boring. It sort of lends itself to a more giving out information approach rather than an emotional appeal, but I am having fun with the idea. Church and Christianity permeated…

Lost Quiz PowerPoint Lost Quiz Image Files How It Works: Divide your group into teams. I normally give the teams 30 seconds to come up with a team name to add a bit of whimsy to the activity. Give a piece of paper and pen to each team and have them write down the answers as you go through the questions. When you are finished teams should trade paper to grade the quizzes. Give a small prize to the winning team. Smaller…

It’s Just Life

My Life, Youth Pastoring
Our church secretary for the past 26 years suffered a series of mini-strokes last week. She is doing much better now and is slated for surgery in the coming weeks. So she has chosen this as an opportune moment to retire. So this week has been a little on the crazy side. Here are a few of the other things going on: We are kicking off a new Children's Church program (so there are lots of logos and logistics to finalize) We have our annual Trunk or Treat extravaganza tomorrow night (anyone else do the Trunk or Treat thing? It is great. We started this several years ago, at the time we were the only church in our community doing it. Now we are one of about 10) I was…
