Wildlife

Meeting Report
Alright tonight was Wildlife night our monthly middle school worship gathering that is all about how messy we can make them and still get their attention back to the worship. Tonight I really went over the top. I think it was the messiest we have ever been. Well the gauntlet night was probably the messiest, but this one was a close second. It amazes me to see the students transformed and wanting to get messy. In fact most of them are begging to get ketchup, jell-O, and apple sauce thrown on them. It is way too much fun. I think we get too serious in youth ministry (and in big church for that matter) and we forget how much fun it is just to laugh. Also when you pull the…

I’m Back

Meeting Report
Sorry I haven’t given a full report up here since I got home. I have been mainly trying to just veg out and relax before diving back into the whole ministry thing. I will try and do a long report on our trip. I know this may sound odd, but I never imagined taking a mission trip to teenagers before. I just always thought of reaching out to kids or adults. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before because it seems like a perfect fit. All this week God really showed me who he was and how He could accomplish anything with anything. I can’t tell you how many times my team changed gears with about 2 seconds to plan and came through flawlessly. He answered prayers all throughout…

A Last Minute Event

Meeting Report
I messed up this week and tried to plan a trip without first finding people to drive. So we ended up having to cancel our trip to see Shane and Shane in Auburn tonight. Since we weren't going to the concert I tried to come up with something else for the students to do. I told the students to meet me at a local resturaunt. Ther were instructed to bring money for food and $1.08 more. After we ate we walked over to the Dollar Tree. I had the students go in and buy something that they could use to tell other people about the love of God. After they all picked their items I divided them into four groups and had them choose the best item out of the…

Columbine

Books, Random Thoughts, Teen Culture
For my Goal Line Stand study I wanted to talk about the students who took a stand at Columbine. I couldn't remember how to spell Cassie's last name so I went looking online and was shocked to find many stories talking how the famous "Are you a Christian" question probably never happened. Here was as story that I just assumed I had all of the facts about and apparently I was wrong. I still talked about the girls (Rachel and Cassie) and about their life as a Christian, but my curiosity was piqued so I went looking for more information. I remembered a book that came out last year simply titled Columbine and how it was a definitive look of what happened or at least what we know. So I…
