When the two disciples of John walked to see Jesus their question for him was “Where are you staying?”
Jesus could have responded with a location, but instead he offered an invitation, “Come and you will see.” (John 1:35-42)
When we ask, “God were are you working” I think often His response isn’t “over there,” but “come and see.”
When we ask “God, what do you want me to do” I think his answer isn’t here is a list, but rather “come and see.”
When we ask “God how will we pay the bills, do the work of ministry, be the church, reach the lost, make a difference, get through this crisis, teach our children, avoid evil, help those who can’t help themselves, be a light, change the world,” his response is rarely a map, a plan, or a program. His answer almost always is “Come, and you will see.”
God is the one who moves. We get to be along for the ride.
