Worship House Media is selling a Countdown Creator that you can use to add timers to your own videos. I think it is a great idea if you have loads of old youth videos just sitting on your hard drive (like me) and you use countdowns (which I don’t). I think it would be great to pull 10 minutes of old videos and drop a countdown timer on them. I know students would be more interested in that than in the typical timers that are out there. I don’t actually use countdown timers before our worship time, but I picked it up anyway so that I can make my own custom game clocks.
It works by taking importing your video and then rendering it with a countdown clock on it. You can change the size, font, color, position, and shadow of the clock to make it look exactly as you want. The one thing that it doesn’t do automatically that I would like is to render a clock on a transparent background. But I worked around that by simply rendering a clock on a black background and then using chroma key to get a clock that I can dynamically place in my video editor.
If you have ever tried to make your own countdown before you know it is time consuming and tedious. This quick download is $35 well spent.
(Check out the sample I made after the jump. It was finished it rendered in less than 5 mintes. It took much longer to upload it here than it did to create it from start to finish)
