Facebook Welcome Page
I hate Facebook. I really think it is just my inherent loathing of the thing that everyone else likes, but tonight I have a special reason to fume.
I spent close to 10 hours over the past two days coming up with a welcome page for our youth group Facebook page. I have been thinking about doing some FB advertising so I wanted to be sure that there was a good landing spot for the adds. I know next to nothing about coding web pages (I have been using WSIWYG web editors since the first edition of Front Page) so I spent a great deal of time looking around trying to make sure I had all my ducks in a row.
After a whole bunch of work it finally looked pretty decent. Everything wasn’t perfect yet, but I was going to tweak it to be ready for the roll out next week.
Then I log in today to find that Facebook has changed the maximum size for custom tabs. This morning I could use the whole left hand side of the screen. Tonight, they have added the left column back and left only the middle for design.
This wouldn’t be that big of a deal if I hadn’t spent hours, literal hours, making the design work at 720 pixels. Now I have to shave 200 pixels off and I don’t know where I am going to take them from.
So yeah, me and Facebook aren’t friends anymore.
