Halfway There

This has been a long week. We have had “revival” meetings at the church every night so I am pretty tired. Of course I am just halfway through the work that needs to get done this week. Meredith and I am moving on Saturday and I want to have everything packed and ready for the people who are coming to help us. So we have to get to work tomorrow and Friday.

I could also use some more help moving so if you are going to be in Eufaula on Saturday we start at 10:00. I will buy you lunch if you come and help us.

There’s something inherently contradictory about "revival" causing you to be "pretty tired", isn’t there? Shouldn’t you feel ‘revived’ after revival? Maybe you aren’t doing it right….

Revival is to rejuvinate the people in the church and help them to re-connect to God. For the pastor of a church revival meetings can make you more than pretty tired. Of course at the same time it makes your spirit feel good so all in all it is worth it, but leading meetings will always take a toll on me. Needing to be "on" for that long and for that many nights in a row, not counting the planning and set up for each meeting wears on me after a while.
But that is why they pay me the big bucks. I hope my church is "revived" and in my spirit I believe I am too, but my body needs a nap.
