Halo 2 and LOST
This is our school’s fall break so the kids are out. Today we got 16 guys together and played some Halo 2. We set up our youth room with a group on the big screen and 3 other TVs. It was a trip. It was loud with Halo sounds coming through the sound system and boys screaming and yelling and smelly with food and those same loud boys.
Those first few games when we were playing teams of 8 in closed in spaces it was intense in ways that playing online never even comes close to reaching. Nintendo was foolish to harp on connectivity and not work on online stuff, but there is no substitute for being in the room with others while you fight it out.
Tonight I took the night off to recover, and started watching the first season of LOST. I hadn’t watched this before, and frankly thought it was a show about people trapped on an island, but there is so much more. I see why it was a hit.
By the way, this is what I hope the future of Television is. I don’t really know how it would work, but I like having all of the season in one bunch without commercials. Even with commercials I like having them when I want to watch them. I guess I just have to suck it up and get Tivo.
