I have been watching “America: The Story of Us” tonight. I was fascinated when they started talking about Sears and how he basically came up with the idea of a mail order business. The world we live in now, the world of the internet where everything can be ordered or picked up seems to be almost a different planet than the world where some young entrepreneur had to dream up a mail order catalog.
This makes me wonder what the world of my grandchildren will look like. What will they look back on with fascination? What will they be amazed about? I already know that my sons will look at me wide-eyed one day when I tell them stories about life before the internet. I wonder what else will change.
