I am Old

I think we have established this before, but I had one more reminder today. I went to pick up “The Revenge of the Nerds” movie from the local video store. We were going to use it for a talk about how God is the God of losers tonight. But when I went and asked for it not only did neither video store have the movie the people working behind the counter had never heard about it.

This was a major movie in my younger days, one that you would sneak around to watch (because it wasn’t a very clean movie) but still one that everyone had heard about. And here we are in 2007 and the people at the video store look at you like you are crazy when you ask for it.

I am officially a dirty old man.

I feel your pain. When I was working with our church’s youth, we did a movie bible study series. I had the same experience with The Princess Bride! I consider that one a classic.

Were you able to find a copy?? Did the youth like it?

I know what you mean-one of my youth (which is my older twin) asked me "Mom.. did you own those big CD’s also when you were my age?"

I am thinking "Huh?" until it dawned on me that he was referring to vinyl albums..

If I cannot find a DVD that was "back in my days".. I’ll try Amazon or someplace online.
