I got a new bike

Today when I was wheeling my new bike out of Walmart I felt like I was a kid again. Tonight when I was riding back up the hill to my house I realized I was 34 and it has been a long time since I have even sat on a bike much less ridden one. I have big plans to start riding my bike to work. This is more of a nod to losing weight than saving gas or the planet, but the fact that it will help with those things too is a nice plus.

The only problem I have is what to do when you ride your bike to work and then realize you have an errand to run. Well, that and what to do with all of the sweating. I guess I will figure that out next week.

I started bike commuting at the start of the summer, it has been great. THe biggest challenge that I have run into is the whole pre-planning issue so here is what I do:
-Plan my week in advance – pick a day or two when I will drive so I can get out of the office stuff done and hang out with students.
-Bring a few days worth of clothes up to the church on Sunday so I don’t have to carry them on my back!

    Enjoy your riding!

I did not know you were going to ride to work…with the humidity in AL you are going to be soaking wet by the time you get there.

Just made my first bike trip to work. It would have been easier without this mondo computer on my back. I am sweaty, but more "change my shirt" sweaty than "take a shower" sweaty.
