This is VBS week at Calvary so I have even less free time than usual. (For all of my Baptist in the house let me throw an “Arctic Edge! Where adventure meets courage” your way. I am sure you know or will know the tune).
We had our first mission trip band practice today and it was brutal. Well, it wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t the same easy practice that we have with our regular Wednesday night players. It wasn’t that everyone wasn’t good, it was just that everyone was different. People had different nuances and different takes on each song. I have gotten so used to the people that I play and sing with every week that I just expected this practice to run the same, but we don’t know each other yet.
There is a spiritual point there about what happens when you have to find new people to work on your team and why people are so reluctant to call new people to come and help because of the initial growing pains. I would follow that with how I took new chaperones to camp this year and was blessed because of it, but that would take several paragraphs and several more minutes of my time and I don’t have either my missions story or my lesson ready for tomorrow so I need to roll.
