Lifeway Stuff

I got the leader pack for the first set of lessons that I wrote for Life Focus in the mail today (wow that sentence had a ton of prepositional phrases). It was wild seeing my ideas in full color print. The CD-ROM contains a printable copy of the lesson so I was able to glance through them. I didn’t look long because seeing those lessons on the screen brought back flashbacks to when I was slaving over them.

I had originally thought I wanted to teach these lessons, but now I don’t know if I want to revisit them or not. But if you haven’t looked at those words with a deadline looming over your shoulder then by all means I think you should check them out.

So if you want some Sunday school curriculum written by your favorite Average Youth Minister then call up LifeWay and order Life Focus for the Spring quarter. You will be glad that you did I promise.

    Shane,
While you were slaving over this, was it God inspired or Shane inspired? Remember, it should be all about Him!

But Shane inspired feeds my ego so much better.

All kidding aside the "slaving" didn’t come in the writing. It came from all of the stuff that has to come after the writing. First you have the really fun "inspired" part where you are writing down ideas and enjoying being connected with God as you create something new.

But then there are word counts so you have to take the 2000 words and shorten it down to just 1000. Then there is formatting and editing and rereading and reworking to make sure that what you are producing is the best that it can be and the best use of your God-given abilities.

There are rewrites after rewrites and the same lesson with the same ideas for many hours over 2 weeks. So when I looked at them again my first thought wasn’t "Ooo cool, but O no, not these words again."

But I am sure that seeing them in an actually book will make me smile again. (now is that being about me or about God? O well, we can work that out tomorrow.)
