My Mind is Tired

I’m mentally exhausted. I spent several hours (from 3:00-10:00) playing an old fashioned pen and paper RPG with a few guys from the school. These were guys who had never been in church before so it was really cool to get a chance to talk to them and hang out with them. I am amazed at how tired I am though, they were always trying things that were beyond what I had imagined and changing up the whole way the game was played and I was forced to come up with new ways of doing things. It was crazy, and fun, and I hope ministry.

God has really be speaking to me lately about reaching out to some of the people who are on the outside a bit, to find those people who many people overlook and treat them not as a project or a mission, but just find ways to be their friends. If you had asked me when I was a teenager if I ever imagined that I would be sitting in a Sunday school room with a pizza box, a cooler of cokes, and a bunch of polyhedral dice, playing a role playing game I never would have believed you. If you had said that it would feel more like church than the anything that happened just a few days before on Easter I would have called you a heretic, but for some reason it really did.

This is much later, but I wanted to follow up on this post. Now the role-playing guys are regular attenders and one of them even brings his two brothers. Reaching out to them opened a door to a whole collection of guys.
But the coolest thing is that one of these role-playing guys has accepted Christ. It si very, very cool.
