So I am sitting here waiting for our choir practice to end so I can talk to someone and I am bored. The whole thing is really good (except for the fact that Mary and Joseph are real life brother and sister (but in Alabama that is considered a plus)).
Anyway, I forgot that I didn’t tell you about the Nativity Story. I took a group to see it last week. It was cool, if a little slow. I loved seeing how the people of the time lived. It really helped me to visualize what the houses looked like as well as the distance traveled by Mary and Joseph. They did a good job of showing the scandal of Mary being pregnant without turning it into an after school special.
Of course the theology of the movie seemed to come more from carols than just from the Bible, but it wasn’t anything that I would call egregious. All in all I would say that everyone should go to see it. I say go to see it because I think it will be boring on DVD. It needed the grandeur of the big screen to work for me.
But then again doesn’t every move?
