The Kite Runner
Wow, lots of stuff to write about tonight. I finished an Audio Book today! There is always a whole lot of excitement and sadness when I finish a book. I love to get to the end of the story, but with an audio book you have spent such a long time with the story that it is sad to have to put those characters away. I love listening to books by the way, it forces me to slow down and really take in every word. It is very different from when I am reading where I just fly over whole pages sometimes.
Anyway, the book with The Kite Runner and I thought it was great. It isn’t always a happy book. In fact I hope it is really based on a the authors life as it says or there are some places that would bug me. But I loved it. It was about an Afghan (with the author who also read the book pronounces sort of like af-wan) boy who flees during the Russian occupation. It opened my eyes to a whole culture that I wasn’t familiar with and I loved the stories of Kite fighting so much that I really want to go and see one, or at least for someone to do one on TV.
Take the time to pick this book up and read it. I would suggest if you are so inclined to get the audio version because there is something about having it read by the author that really makes it come alive. And don’t worry you get used to the accent after the first 10 minutes or so.
