The Nursery

nursery.jpgMeredith and a friend spent Saturday getting the nursery ready. I don’t ever want to put together a piece of furniture again. There are still a few things that we need to make the whole room complete, (a table, another shelf, and maybe a baby) but the basic format is there. I can’t believe the sheer volume of stuff that we have for the baby. It is a little overwhelming. Of course I’m not really worried about the whole baby thing. I mean, I know that it will change my life and all of that, but diapering and feeding and all of those things don’t frighten me near as much as the whole actually shaping the life of another human being. It is quite frightening.

The room shaped up quite nicely, Dad – I mean Mom. Wait a minute, is that really a changing table? I’ve never actually seen one of those things outside of a store or catalog. (Here’s where everyone chimes in about how they have or had a changing table.)

I know I’m preaching to the choir a bit, but it’s good to see that you actually understand the fact that you’re shaping your son’s life. I see so many parents (I’m sure I’m guilty of this myself sometimes, as well) that don’t appear to believe this – they just let the world shape their children instead.

I’m with -B on the changing table. Used a borrowed one for a few months, then stuck it in the basement. We’ve got a pallette on the floor that we use, works great.

I know you’re worried about how you are going to shape the life of a young child, but something that you tend to think less about until it actually happens is how much that young child shapes YOU. You’ll be amazed, I guarantee.

Glad to see you have a place to change the baby. We didn’t have one for a long time, and that was no fun. Ditto on your thoughts about shaping the life of another human being.

Anybody know where Dwayne Moyers is? He could draw.
